Switch Grass
Clump-forming grass. Prefers moist soil, but is fairly soil- adaptable. Usually 3-4′ tall, but can reach 6′. Spreads by rhizomes and requires competition. Foliage is green-blue in summer, golden or reddish in fall. Delicate, airy seed heads appear in mid-late summer. Food source for game and grazing animals. Butterfly larvae host plant.
