Physostegia virginiana

Obedient Plant

Compact spikes of rosy-purple or white tubular flowers on square stems. Blooms from the bottom up. Adaptable to most soil types. Plants tend to flop unless staked or supported by neighbors; spreads assertively. Called Obedient Plant because flowers can be rotated around the stem and remain in their new position. Wonderful seed heads.
